Our Process of Creating Custom Stained Glass Art:
Over the years, I have refined my process of working with clients to ensure your vision is fully realized. If you are considering commissioning a custom work of art for your home or business, you can anticipate the following process:
- Initial Contact – when you first contact me I will ask some broad questions to begin to understand what you envision. After this conversation, we plan an initial consultation at your home or place of business to begin outlining your stained glass piece.
- During the initial design consultation, I really focus on getting to know you. Ultimately, your final piece must reflect your personality and tastes. I will guide you through a process to hone in on what you seek to achieve. My goal is to learn about your personal style, to observe the colors already at work in your décor, and fully understand your inspiration. During this meeting, I will also take measurements of the space your piece will occupy and we will discuss your budget. At the conclusion of this meeting, I will be able to provide you with a rough estimate of the costs of producing your piece.
- Design Phase: This is one of the most important phases in your project and I’ll work closely with you to ensure your complete satisfaction. Based on our design consultation I will draft a custom design and share it for your review. Over a series of iterations, I will refine the design based on your input. Once I have a design that exemplifies your vision we will begin the process of selecting the art glass to be used. The final cost of each piece is dependent on the complexity of the design and type and quantity of glass used. With the design and glass selection completed, I will provide you with a firm quote on the price of your stained glass masterpiece and a projected delivery date. A 50% deposit of the full price is required at this time.
- Now the fun begins. Glass is ordered and your stained glass piece is meticulously handcrafted.
- When your custom stained glass piece is completed, polished and ready for you, I will contact you to coordinate delivery. The balance of your fee is due upon delivery. Based on the type of piece you have commissioned I will either:
- Deliver the piece to your home or business
- Deliver the piece and securely hang it for you.
- Deliver and professionally install your piece [in the case of windows, transoms, etc…]. If your piece requires installation, those fees will be outlined in your price quote.
